According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham at AS Roma. The Italian side are looking to add another striker given that Edin Dzeko’s future at the club is uncertain.
Tammy Abraham is having a torrid time at Chelsea. It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench, or even out of the matchday squads in recent weeks. The striker has hardly featured over the last 3 months or so. He has often come off the bench in the dying minutes or has not featured at all.
The England international has slipped down the pecking order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner. The likes of Werner and Kai Havertz have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.
That has resulted in clubs like Roma wanting to sign the striker. Jose Mourinho is set to take over next season but the future of Edin Dzeko is still unknown. In case Mourinho cannot convince him to stay, Borja Mayoral will be the only striker left. Hence, they have identified the Chelsea outcast as a target.
It’s honestly hard to justify Tammy’s constant exclusion under Tuchel. At this moment, the best option would be to cut the losses and let him leave for another club. It remains to be seen if Roma and Mourinho are genuinely interested. If so, Chelsea should not hesitate to cash in.
