According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez could be sold by Inter Milan next season. Inter are in some financial trouble and they might have to cash in some of their biggest assets like Martinez.
The Argentine international has thrived at the San Siro since joining the club in 2018. He has so far made 87 appearances for the Nerazzurri scoring 48 goals and assisting 18. Martinez has been a standout this season too. So far, he has scored 16 goals and made 8 assists in just 36 league games.
Chelsea are still feeling the effects of signing Timo Werner as the striker has failed to match his previously high standard at RB Leipzig. The German has kept missing chances through the season and Chelsea can count themselves lucky to still be in contention for the Champions League and FA Cup.
With Chelsea turning their attention to signing a striker for next season, they might just have gotten a boost. The Argentine striker could be offloaded next summer for less than £70m after it was reported that Inter Milan are in a financial mess. This is despite the Italian club winning Serie A this season.
Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on the prolific striker due to the aforementioned reason. For the Blues, Martinez is seen as an alternative to Erling Haaland, Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku. Nonetheless, it bodes well that Inter would consider a sale and Chelsea could capitalize on the same.
