Bundesliga giants eye rising Chelsea star as replacement for outgoing talisman

Chelsea Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund want Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to transfer news from Eurosport, Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. The German outfit see him as Jadon Sancho’s replacement who will be allowed to leave the club in the summer.

Hudson-Odoi burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old in the 2018/19 season where he made 24 senior appearances. However, he has become a fringe player over the last season as Chelsea made a host of signings last summer.

Hudson-Odoi was also not helped by Thomas Tuchel’s arrival and subsequent switch to a back three. He was given chances to play as a right-wingback but in recent games, it was Reece James who was preferred in the role.

Now, it has been reported that Chelsea might be willing to let him leave as they feel that he has not fulfilled his potential. They are also open to a temporary loan deal. Borussia Dortmund have made their interest clear in bringing in Hudson-Odoi as a replacement for Sancho.

The 20-year-old Chelsea academy graduate is not coming off the best of seasons. He has been bogged down by competition and a change of formation. Letting him leave on a temporary deal might not be such a bad idea. Dortmund have a history of nurturing young talents and a loan spell there could work wonders.
