Speaking to ESPN (h/t Express), Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has dashed speculations over his future at the club, insisting that he is happy at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic arrived at Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2019 but has had a stop-start stint so far at the Bridge. While the USMNT star has shown what he is capable of time and again, injuries and the competition for places has meant he hasn’t been able to nail down a regular berth in the lineup.
That is something that has left the winger frustrated, which he revealed following our UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg win against Real Madrid. Pulisic had starred in the first leg in Spain but was benched for the home tie. (h/t Express)
“Very frustrated, yeah, not much else to say. I wanted to play from the beginning as I always do. I’ve had to continue to prove myself over and over again.”
This had served to fuel speculations over his future, with our rivals Liverpool having been credited with an interest in Pulisic due to how much their manager, Jurgen Klopp admires the attacker. However, the 22-year-old has ruled out any possibility of a transfer, claiming that he is happy at Chelsea and loving the challenge. (h/t Express)
“Yeah, I’m obviously happy here, it has been an incredible two years. People have always doubted and said: ‘Oh, he’s not playing, does he want to go here, does he want to go there?’. I’m always up for a challenge. I love competing. I love the position I’m in and I’m enjoying my time here.”
Pulisic, so far this season, has featured in 39 games across all competitions. The 22-year-old has produced has a return of six goals and three assists, which is a tad underwhelming for a player of his capabilities. But, the potential is there and we will see the best of the USMNT international in the months and years to come.
