According to transfer news from Daily Star, Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is the subject of interest from AC Milan. Giroud and AC Milan are keen on the deal as the striker is set to become a free agent within a month.
The 34-year-old Giroud has been with Chelsea since January 2018 when he sealed a transfer from Arsenal. The veteran forward has been a handy player for the Blues, chipping in with vital goals on a consistent basis. So far this term, Giroud has racked up a tally of 11 goals from 31 matches in all competitions, scoring some important goals.
However, the Frenchman’s future at the club is far from certain as he is in the final few months of his contract. Indeed, Giroud’s current deal with Chelsea runs out at the end of the season, which has led to interest from a host of clubs in Italy, especially AC Milan.
AC Milan are keen on adding another striker after the departure of Mario Mandzukic. They want a new strike partner for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as they return to the Champions League. Giroud also wants the move after falling down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.
Giroud has been a very useful squad player. Even at 34, the Frenchman adds a lot of value to any side but has become a bit-part player in recent months. Letting him move to AC Milan or some other club after his contract expires is the best option for all.
