‘Untouchable’- Chelsea’s transfer stance on star midfielder emerges after UCL final

Transfer News: Mason Mount considered ‘untouchable’ at Chelsea

Italian transfer expert and journalist, Fabrizio Romano, states that Mason Mount is considered ‘untouchable’ at Chelsea as the club’s stance regarding the midfielder has emerged.

Chelsea refused to loan him out or sell him last summer, according to Romano. And what a decision that has turned out to be, with the 22-year-old playing a vital role in the club’s exploits this season.

It is not hard to imagine that the English youngster had suitors last summer or will have suitors in the upcoming transfer windows. He has really come into his own in the past couple of seasons.

Mount has maintained his place in the Chelsea XI under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel, and the German’s decision to stick him in the Champions League final paid off immensely.

Mount expresses his delight

It was his defence-piercing pass that caught Manchester City with their guards down and found Kai Havertz’s perfectly-timed run. The German rounded off a hapless Ederson to score the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute.

After the game, Mount described just how it felt to lift the UCL trophy for the first time in his career. He rightly called the Blues ‘the best team in the world’ as he tried to put his feelings into words in an interview with BT Sport (h/t BBC).

“I can’t put it into words. It’s impossible. I just mentioned then that I’ve played in two finals for Chelsea and we lost them both. The way that hurt… It’s all I’ve dreamt winning a trophy with Chelsea. To go all the way in the Champions League. We played some tough teams. We are in a final and we won it. It’s such a special occasion. At this moment in time, we’re the best team in the world. You can’t take that away from us!”

More Chelsea News:

There is no doubt that Mount will continue to be an important player for the Blues going into the next season. Credit is also due for Frank Lampard, who oversaw Mount’s progress at Derby County and Chelsea.
