According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking to bring back Romelu Lukaku in a lucrative deal. The Inter Milan striker is a realistic target for the Blues as they aim to challenge for the Premier League next season.
Lukaku is no stranger to Chelsea given he spent three years at the club. He spent the second and third year of his Stamford Bridge career out on loan before leaving permanently for Everton. Nonetheless, he has managed to lift up his career to greater heights with his stint at Inter Milan.
The Italian side are in a financial mess despite their recent Serie A win. They are in a dire position where they need to raise funds through player sales and wage cuts. That puts Lukaku in the firing line as Chelsea are trying to look for strikers in the transfer market.
The Blues have identified the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Lukaku as some of the names they want. However, it is understood that Chelsea’s main focus is on re-signing their former player. Inter value the player at a staggering £100m, which Chelsea will aim to reduce a bit.
Chelsea may have won the Champions League but the fact remains that the team has more often than not struggled to score. They have often been bailed out by their superior defensive organization. It will be imperative that Chelsea address this issue ahead of next season.
