According to transfer news from SportWitness, Chelsea have entered the race for Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho. The Blues are the latest club to register their interest in Sancho after Manchester United and Liverpool.
A youth product of Manchester City’s academy, in 2017 Sancho decided to move abroad in search of first-team football, something that was clearly impossible at Man City given the stock of players they had at the time. The winger went on to join Borussia Dortmund.
Four years down the line, no one can say that he has made the wrong decision. He has gone from an ambitious teenager to one of the best right-wingers in the game. His stats for Dortmund are rather mind-boggling. The tricky winger has made 133 appearances for the club so far, scoring 46 goals and 62 assists.
Chelsea and Liverpool believe that Sancho can be a genuine world-class player in the coming years and that he has all the necessary skills to do so. Another reason is that Sancho’s age will allow them to recoup a lot of the money they invest in him, i.e. he has a high resale value.
Dortmund played hardball over Sancho last summer but they are open to an exit now. They are also willing to reduce their asking price a little bit. Still, Chelsea or any of the clubs mentioned will have to pay around a good €100m if they want to sign him for the next season.
