According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea could take advantage of the situation at Inter Milan and sign Romelu Lukaku. The Serie A champions are in a financial mess and will need to sell players to raise funds. Antonio Conte is not happy with the same and could depart.
Lukaku has been in sensational form for Inter Milan since joining them in 2019. He led their title charge this season with his goals. The Belgian has formed a deadly partnership with fellow striker Lautaro Martinez. The Belgian striker is no stranger to Chelsea given he spent three years at the club.
However, he couldn’t score even once. He spent the second and third years of his Stamford Bridge career out on loan before leaving permanently for Everton. Lukaku then moved to Manchester United in 2017 and despite decent numbers, he was let go to Inter, where he has resurrected his career. He has scored at a fantastic pace there, with 64 goals in 95 appearances.
Now, it has been reported that Inter Milan are facing the possibility that Lukaku does indeed leave the club. The Italian side are in a financial mess despite their recent Serie A win. They are in a dire position where they need to raise funds through player sales and wage cuts.
Antonio Conte has been irked by the same and it could be the case that he leaves the club within the next few days. That leaves Chelsea with a chance to swoop in for Lukaku given Conte had a strong relationship with the player.
The Blues have had their problems with forwards in recent seasons, with no striker seemingly being able to nail down a starting berth. Lukaku has honed his skills in the last few years and is a lethal striker for both club and country. Chelsea would be wise to take advantage of the whole situation and snap up their former player.
