Chelsea could earn €15m if they beat Real Madrid to the finals
According to Football.london, Chelsea could earn a good €15m if they beat Real Madrid and progress to the Champions League final. They will also pocket another bonus of €4m if they go on to lift the trophy.
Chelsea are enjoying a wonderful second half of the season. The club are placed fourth in the league, finals of the FA Cup and are just one game away from the Champions League final. Half the job in the Champions League was done when we drew 1-1 with Real Madrid in the first leg.
Nonetheless, it has been a very profitable run in Europe top competition for the Blues. So far, they have earned a collective €91.8m in their journey to the semi-finals. An additional €15m will be earned if they manage to win the game against Real Madrid. If they go one step further and win against Man City, a €4m bonus will be awaiting.
The break down of the €91.8m goes as €45m in prize money, €31m in solidarity payments due to their UEFA club coefficient rankings and 10% of the broadcasting revenues (h/t Football.london). The Blues are only behind Real Madrid, who have won the highest prize money in Europe.
