Chelsea handed boost as Man City suffer injury blow ahead of Champions League final
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of their Champions League final clash against Manchester City, with the Cityzens getting dealt an injury blow.
Chelsea clash against Manchester City in the finals of the UEFA Champions League at Estadio Do Dragao in Porto later tonight. And, leading into the game, the newly-crowned Premier League champions are now sweating over the fitness of star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The German international has been one of the Cityzens’ best players this season and is their leading goalscorer for the campaign heading into the finals, with 17 strikes to his name so far in 2020/21. However, there is now the possibility that he could miss out on the monumental clash in Portugal later today.
It is being reported that Gundogan suffered an injury scare on the eve of the game during City’s final training session. The German international is said to have been barged into by a teammate which left him floored. Following that, the midfielder left the training field ‘cautiously’, leading to concerns over his fitness.
Alternate reports from Sky Sports, however, are claiming that the Manchester City midfielder is not ruled out and very much in contention for the main event later tonight.

Gundogan, so far this term, has featured 45 times in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and setting up five more. The 30-year-old has had injury issues in the past but has enjoyed a rare season where he hasn’t been bogged down by fitness problems.
Whether he is able to shake off the training injury and take on Chelsea in the Champions League final remains to be seen.
