Transfer News: Roma interested in Chelsea outcast Kepa Arrizabalaga
According to transfer news from Mirror, Roma have been credited with an interest in Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The club recently appointed Jose Mourinho for next season and he is expected to have some transfer targets.
The Blues signed the Spaniard from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 but things haven’t quite gone to plan. Once tipped to overtake David de Gea and be a fixture in the Spanish national team’s starting XI, Arrizabalaga has been dismantled by Edouard Mendy as Chelsea’s No.1.
While Kepa has been given the occasion game this season under Thomas Tuchel, Mendy firmly remains the first choice. Honestly, it’s hard to see him continue in the same position as a deputy and Chelsea have to cut their losses at some point.
Roma have come to Chelsea’s rescue with their keenness to sign Kepa. While they already have Pau Lopez as the first choice, they are still after the Chelsea custodian. It’s still unknown if Kepa is being eyed by Jose Mourinho, who will take over from next season.

Chelsea are clearly not going to recoup the entire sum they spent on him but they need to let him go. He takes up a significant amount of wages and selling him will get the club some funds and also ease some pressure on the wage bill.
