News: Antonio Rudiger to discuss Chelsea future after Euros

According to news from Daily Mail, Antonio Rudiger will discuss his future at Chelsea after the Euros. The defender will be representing Germany in the summer tournament, with his contract at Chelsea set to enter the final year.

Antonio Rudiger had slipped to the fringes under Frank Lampard in the first half of the season. However, as soon as Thomas Tuchel took over, he became one of the first names on the team sheet. He has started 23 out of 27 games under Tuchel, only missing 3 games, playing a vital part in Chelsea’s top-four finish and Champions League journey to the final.

Tuchel wants Rudiger to renew his contract

Even after his resurgence this season, there remain question marks over his future. The Blues could lose the former Roma man for nothing next season if a new deal is not agreed soon. Thomas Tuchel has also expressed his desire for the German defender to sign a new contract with the Blues.

Rudiger gave an encouraging reply to the same and assured that talks will take place after the Euros.

‘That’s nice and I’m happy too. You always make your decisions to some extent dependent on the coaching staff, but in the long term you can never rely on them anyway. After the European Championships, we can talk.’

Given how he has become a vital part of Tuchel’s new-look side, it is imperative that Chelsea convince the defender to put pen to paper on a new deal. With just a year left on his current deal, Chelsea would like to avoid any fiascos.
