Transfer News: Chelsea enter the race for Georginio Wijnaldum
According to transfer news from Metro, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Georginio Wijnaldum. The Liverpool man is approaching the end of his contract at the club and will be a free agent at the end of this season.
Contract talks have hit a snag and it largely appears that the Dutch international could be heading out of the club. Barcelona have been seen as the side leading the chasing pack, with manager Ronald Koeman having worked with the player earlier.
Barcelona were also said to have offered him a 3-year deal. However, the latest reports suggest that the Blues are firmly placed among the teams to sign Wijnaldum. Other sides such as PSG, Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in his services.
Ever since his move to Newcastle and then Liverpool, the Dutchman has been one of the most underrated players in the top-flight. Wijnaldum is one of the best utility players available at this point. He can fit into a variety of midfield roles.

While Chelsea do have enough midfielders, adding a quality player for free isn’t something they should pass up. It would be a no-brainer to move for a player like Wijnaldum, who is dynamic and adds to both ends of the pitch. He is a workhorse and does not stop running until the final whistle.
