Timo Werner frustrated with Chelsea draw

According to Express, Timo Werner was very angry as Chelsea could only manage a draw against Real Madrid. The Blues took on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final and came away with a 1-1 draw.

Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for Chelsea with a sublime solo effort. Karim Benzema was not to be left behind as he took it on himself to restore parity with a spectacular volley that left Edouard Mendy rooted to his spot.

Nonetheless, Chelsea will feel they missed an opportunity to gain more of an advantage from the game. One of those opportunities came to Timo Werner, who was in good spirits after his goal at West Ham.

However, Werner’s first season at Chelsea was summed up at that moment. Pulisic headed the ball towards Werner who only had the keeper to beat from 2 yards out. It was even on his stronger right foot but he hit it too close to Courtois and the keeper pulled off a good save.

After the game, the German striker was left angry at the result, as explained by Thomas Tuchel. Werner missed that golden chance which could have dealt an early blow to Real Madrid, who looked fazed by the pace of Chelsea. It was Werner’s second blunder in two games after squandering one against West Ham.

Nonetheless, Werner needs to take heart from his overall performance. He is getting into those good areas to find scoring opportunities. If only he finds that final bit of putting it into the net, Chelsea could benefit a lot.
