Chelsea get hint about PSG transfer stance on Gianluigi Donnarumma

Speaking to Sky Italy (h/t football.london) on Wednesday night, PSG director Leonardo seemingly distanced his club from AC Milan stopper and Chelsea transfer target, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The young goalkeeper has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has over 200 matches in his AC Milan career at the age of just 22.

Even this season, the stopper has played regularly for both club and country, amassing 48 appearances so far. And he has been incessantly linked with a move away from AC Milan due to his current contract situation.

Chelsea are interested in a transfer for AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, but face competition from PSG.

Donnarumma’s current deal in Milan expires at the end of this season, with him and Mino Raiola not having opened discussions of a new deal yet. This comes amid reports of a team offering him £10million-a-year to prise him away from San Siro.

Blues leading the race?

Chelsea and PSG are two clubs whose names have been mentioned recently regarding a free transfer in the summer. But Leonardo’s recent comment on the Italian shows that the French giants seem content with their goalkeeping situation at the moment.

“Donnarumma? I don’t talk about transfers now, Navas is great.”

The Blues dished out an eye-watering £72million for Kepa Arrizabalaga when Thibaut Courtois left. The Spaniard’s poor form then made Frank Lampard dish out another £20million on Edouard Mendy.

Mendy has been doing very well at the club since his move from Ligue 1, but signing Donnarumma would be a brilliant long-term move. Not just that, but he could also come on a free transfer.

The Italian international is almost 7 years younger than Mendy and has vast European and International experience already. He would only get better in the future and hopefully for the Blues, his peak years arrive at Stamford Bridge.
