According to the Express, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that he has no problems if Sergio Aguero decided to join Chelsea in the summer.
The 32-year-old Aguero has been with Manchester City since 2011 and has grown into a legend for the club. However, his contract expires at the end of the season, following which he will be on the move.
Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for Aguero, with the Blues showing an interest. Along with us, the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested. However, it has been claimed that the Argentine could prefer to stay in the Premier League. (h/t Express)
Responding to those speculations, Guardiola has now insisted that he would be delighted if Aguero decided to join Chelsea or any other domestic rival, claiming that he wants what’s best for the legendary striker.
“The best for him, we wish, all of us. Find the best for Sergio for the last years in his career, for sure. We’ll be delighted with the decision he takes, the best for him and his family and his career.
“My preference is his preference. His preference is my preference. The best for him is the best for us.”
Aguero has had an injury-riddled 2020/21 campaign. And at 32, he does not have a lot of years left in the tank at the highest level either. However, with Olivier Giroud’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Aguero could be a brilliant signing for us.
Despite his recent fitness issues, there is no doubt over the quality that he would add to the side. His experience and proven pedigree could rub off the younger players within the Chelsea squad.
