“It’s different” – Attacking star lifts the lid on Chelsea struggles under Tuchel

Hakim Ziyech speaks out on Chelsea struggles under Thomas Tuchel

According to news from Metro, Hakim Ziyech has opened up on his struggles at Chelsea and how it is under Thomas Tuchel. The Moroccan says that he is working hard to get back to form and insists he is happy under Thomas Tuchel.

The Moroccan joined the club amid fanfare this past summer, with a deal being agreed last season itself.

He came to England in scintillating form for Ajax over the last few seasons. However, he has failed to carry over that form into the current season and has made just 17 league appearances.

While Ziyech suffered from injuries at the start of the season, he was still one of Frank Lampard’s regulars. After the arrival of Tuchel, his minutes have dwindled a bit. The German manager has given more time to the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz in a bid to get them in form.

Despite the rare few minutes he is playing under Tuchel, Ziyech insists that he is working his way to form and that he is happy under the new manager.

‘It’s different, different than we’d had the last six months [under Frank Lampard]. He’s bringing his own vision. I think his statistics say it all, so it goes well for everybody.

We are doing what we have to do and winning a lot of games, we’re playing good football. So I think everybody at the club is happy with his journey here.’

He added that injuries were a huge reason for his struggles at Chelsea but now he believes in himself to work hard and reach those high levels of performance again.

‘Before I came I had been out for seven months mostly. I came here and started with injuries, so for me it was more that I was already behind everybody physically. So the way to work hard and coming back to the physical point where I’m normally at, and then still trying to go one step further, it takes some time.

‘I’m always the type of guy that always believes in myself, I always work hard in training. It’s not always that it comes out in games, but I’m working hard every day on it. I know what I can do and I always trust in myself.’

While it is understandable that Ziyech is struggling a bit under Tuchel, an exit seems the easy way out. However, the Moroccan is a quality player capable of unlocking defences and should try to make the most of his chances and hope everything works out.
