Former Arsenal hero expresses concern regarding this struggling Chelsea star

Emmanuel Petit is worried about Kai Havertz amid his Chelsea struggles

According to news from Mirror, Emmanuel Petit is worried about struggling Chelsea wonderkid Kai Havertz. He feels that the other new arrivals will eventually sort their form out but Havertz is a huge worry given his nature.

Kai Havertz was an expensive signing, arriving from Bayern Leverkusen. The attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the best emerging talents to come out of the league in recent times. The problem, though, is that he has fared worse than anyone could have expected.

Kai Havertz has looked good in the No.9 role for Chelsea

In no position has Havertz looked comfortable. He has been tried out in multiple positions in the attack and the midfield but none has worked. It is only at false nine the playmaker looks somewhat effective.

The former Arsenal icon felt that it was a lot due to the change in countries and cultures and sometimes it requires more time. He praised Bruno Fernandes for adjusting well but spoke about the cases of Werner and Havertz.

Ex player Emmanuel Petit of FC Barcelona Barca during the champions league, football match between FC Barcelona and Olympique Lyon on March 13, 2019 at Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona, Spain Cordon Press.

“I’m not worried about Timo Werner, though – I’m more worried about Kai Havertz. Werner has got the personality to get over this season and turn things around.

You’ve got to remember at RB Leipzig he was the central figure in a team largely centred around a counter-attacking brand of football, and that’s not a style Chelsea operate with. So that’s something him and his teammates have to get used to, and that kind of thing takes time.”

While he feels that Werner will eventually crack the code to performing well, it is Havertz that he is really worried about.

“Havertz gives me more worries, because of his personality. I know he’s very young but I think he’s very shy. He needs to fight and show his personality on the pitch.”

Havertz is slowly looking like he is figuring out what the best position for him is at Chelsea under Tuchel. In the absence of a clear No.9, Havertz has looked solid in a false-nine role, playing more freely. It remains to be seen if we get to see the Leverkusen version of Havertz that made the club splash the cash on him.
