Chelsea Transfer News: Ruben Loftus-Cheek wanted by Aston Villa, Crystal Palace

According to news from TEAMtalk (h/t Birmingham Live), Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has emerged as a summer transfer target for Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

A product of the Blues’ youth academy, Loftus-Cheek has been, for long, tipped to have a bright future in the game. However, injuries have curtailed his progress and halted his development at the Bridge.

Having hardly featured last season, Loftus-Cheek joined London rivals Fulham on loan for the 2020/21 campaign to get his career back on track. And, to a certain extent, the midfielder has managed to do so, racking up 27 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers.

However, as per the report, Loftus-Cheek is no longer a part of the long-term plans at Chelsea. In fact, the club is said to have informed interested parties that they would be willing to listen to offers for the England international.

This has put the likes of Aston Villa and Crystal Palace on high-alert. Villa’s interest largely stems from ex-Chelsea captain and club legend John Terry, who is a huge admirer of Loftus-Cheek and wants to bring him to Villa Park.

Palace, on the other hand, are long-term admirers of the English midfielder, who even had a loan stint away at Selhurst Park not so long ago. And they have made it known to Chelsea that they would be open to signing Loftus-Cheek is he were to be put on the market.

Loftus-Cheek still has over three years left on his current contract with Chelsea. However, it seems like the midfielder could be on his way out of the club again, this time on a permanent basis.
