According to transfer news from Daily Mail, Napoli are not going to sign Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent deal. The Italian club are not convinced by his performances in recent weeks and he could be heading back to Chelsea and then to France.
The French midfielder was signed from AS Monaco in 2017 but failed to cement his place in the Chelsea team and has been out on loan for the past three seasons.
New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is also not keen on having the former Monaco midfielder in his future plans at Chelsea. So Chelsea are open to sanctioning a permanent sale of the player in the summer.
He joined Serie A side Napoli at the start of the season, with reports emerging that Gennaro Gattuso’s side want to make a permanent move for him due to his impressive start at the club. However, now contradictory reports have emerged that Napoli don’t really intend to sign him at the end of the season.
That would mean Bakayoko having to return to Stamford Bridge. His contract ends in 2022 meaning that the club have to find a new suitor for him. They have offered the player to French sides such as PSG and Lyon also.
This does put Chelsea in a spot, with the club wanting to raise more funds after a huge outlay last summer and another to come. The player last put on a blue shirt back in 2018 and it could be a huge challenge in case he needs to be put back into the squad.
