Chelsea Transfer News: Erling Haaland contract demands released

According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea could have to shell out premium wages to sign Erling Haaland. The forward has come out with his contract demands and he demands to be the highest-paid player in the Premier League if he ever moves there.

The Norwegian hitman has taken Europe by storm with his goal-scoring exploits for RedBull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. In 49 outings for Dortmund, he has scored 49 goals. Chelsea have held an interest in the player for a while now and could look to move for him this summer.

There is a £65m release clause in his contract, which activates only in 2022. Nonetheless, the German club could cash in on the 20-year-old this summer by demanding a figure more than the release clause.

However, that could actually be the lesser worry for Chelsea as Haaland has asked for an eye-watering £600,000-a-week wage package, which would amount to £156m if a standard five-year deal is handed to the Norwegian.

Chelsea have the financial clout to pull off the deal but in all honesty, those are astronomical wage demands for a 20-year-old. There is interest from a lot of clubs but only a few, in this climate, can actually afford to spend that much.
