Chelsea want to land Serie A star in a swap deal as several European clubs maintain interest

Transfer News: Chelsea want swap deal for Juventus man Paulo Dybala but face PSG competition

A report by Italian outlet Tuttosport via Top Mercato (h/t Mirror) mentions that Chelsea are looking to sign Paulo Dybala by way of including one of two players in a potential swap deal.

And the two names cited are that of out-of-favour left-back, Emerson Palmieri and Jorginho. The Italian midfielder’s future, of course, is up in the air, especially after comments from his agent earlier this month.

The Blues could use one of them as a makeweight in a deal that sees the Argentine forward head over to Stamford Bridge. But they may face competition from PSG, who want a similarly structured deal. (h/t Mirror)

The report mentions that the Ligue 1 champions are prepared to offer Mauro Icardi in return. Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring the 27-year-old to Paris but Chelsea are in need of a striker and Thomas Tuchel is prepared to purchase Dybala ahead of the competitors.

Off to England?

A transfer link to the Premier League is nothing new for the former Palermo forward.

A switch to England has been mentioned over the past few years and Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both been cited as potential destinations.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Paulo Dybala.

Tuchel has recently utilized Kai Havertz in a centre-forward role while Timo Werner has kept his place in the starting XI more often than not. Tammy Abraham, meanwhile, was not even in the matchday squad against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

So, it seems that the Blues could use a new forward. None of their strikers have more than 6 goals in the league season, and that is indeed a worrying a statistic. (h/t Transfermarkt)

More Chelsea News:

Dybala’s pedigree is already proven and he would significantly boost Chelsea’s depth in attack. Not to mention, the Argentine is also pretty flexible in attack and can play in a variety of positions.
