Transfer News: Chelsea set to sell Kurt Zouma as part of defensive clearout
According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea are willing to sell 26-year-old star Kurt Zouma as a part of a defensive clearout. Along with Zouma, the Blues are also set to let go of Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis to AC Milan.
Chelsea have looked like one of the most solid sides in the Premier League after the appointment of Thomas Tuchel. They have rarely conceded goals apart from the West Brom game and that was only due to Thiago Silva being sent off.
While Chelsea started with a back four this season, Frank Lampard used Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva as his first-choice pairing. However, once Tuchel took over, he switched to a back three and brought back the likes of Azpilicueta and Rudiger. That left Zouma on the benches for most of the games.
Now as Chelsea plan for the next season, they will need to sell a few defenders if they are to sign Niklas Sule. They already have five defenders at the club along with Tomori on loan at Milan. Zouma has been shortlisted as one of the players to be sold along with Tomori.

It’s not that Zouma is a bad defender per se but the fact is that Chelsea could use a more world-class option if they are to challenge for the Premier League next season. The sale of Zouma would also free up some funds, which they can use to sign other transfer targets.
