According to news from The Guardian, Chelsea forward Timo Werner has been stopped by Thomas Tuchel from taking up an extra finishing practice. Tuchel used a dating analogy to explain the situation for Werner.
It seems like Timo Werner really can’t catch a break. Despite only joining the club this season, he has failed to match his previously high standards. However, two goals since November tells you the story.
He is not playing badly but the fact that he is not taking his chances should be a concern for the club. A similar thing happened against Macedonia, as the match was evenly poised at 1-1 in the 79th min. He had the goal at his mercy and somehow, he managed to fluff his left-footed shot sideways.
Joachim Low blasted the forward for that but Tuchel has decided to take a different road.
“This guy scores since he’s five years old. It’s not the moment to even train extra. Yesterday I sent him in from training because he wanted to do some finishing with us. I said: ‘You don’t need that, your body and your brain knows how to score.
If a woman does not want to go out for dinner with you, you cannot force her. You can just step a little bit back, then maybe she will call you up. The goals will come.”
One can only hope that this advice can help Werner. It does look like he is trying too hard and it’s only getting messed up more. Tuchel intends to start the forward in the West Brom game despite the miss and it shows a sign of trust in the player.
