Chelsea learn ridiculous wage demands of European goal-machine amid serious transfer interest

Transfer News: Chelsea know Erling Haaland wage demands as Premier League links continue

A report by the Mirror (h/t Express) claims that Mino Raiola wants to make Chelsea transfer target Erling Haaland the first £1million-a-week footballer in history.

The Norwegian is arguably the hottest prospect in the world right now and has impressed heavily at Borussia Dortmund since his move to Signal Iduna Park in January 2020.

And Europe’s biggest clubs are now circling around him over a summer deal. He does have a release clause of £68million that activates in the summer of 2022, but a host of clubs want a deal this year itself. (h/t Express)

The 20-year-old sensation has already been offered to a number of clubs. But the news of his potential wage bill would come as a big shock to Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool. (h/t Express)

Haaland will cost a pretty penny

Manchester City are another English club in the running for him and are thought to be able to afford a wage bill like that; but the report adds that they would not be happy about such an enormous fee.

Apart from the record wage bill, teams might have to fork out a ridiculous transfer fee as well. £130million is believed to be the starting point of any bids at the end of the current season.

And it would only continue to rise if there is a bidding war amongst clubs to sign the Norwegian hitman. If that is true, then the amount being quoted for him is ridiculously high.

More Chelsea News:

The Blues do need a striker and if Roman Abramovich can shell out this kind of money, then this would be a blockbuster deal. But if he can’t, then it seems financially unwise and Thomas Tuchel should size up different options.
