According to transfer news from Mirror, Chelsea could finally be able to land long-term target Boubacar Kamara. The youngster from Marseille has spoken about his wish to leave the club after his stint at the French club.
The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Marseille and is now an established member of their first-team. Primarily a defensive midfielder, Kamara is also capable of filling in at centre-back. Kamara has made 16 appearances for the French giants this season. While he has just 2 assists to his name, his importance to Jorge Sampaoli’s outfit cannot be understated.
Kamara has long been chased by Chelsea. The Blues approached the player’s agent Pini Zahavi regarding a potential transfer. However, both Marseille and Kamara were keen to continue their association and shut the door on a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, despite last summer’s setback, all is not lost. Chelsea could land the youngster next summer as he has opened the door to an exit from the club.
“I’ve been here since I was very small. I’ve never felt this desire to leave, but I think I’m ready to go pretty much anywhere with what I’ve lived at Marseille.”
Kamara’s current deal at the Stade Velodrome expires in 2022, meaning time is running out for Marseille to sell him or tie him down to fresh terms. A 21-year-old who can play as a defensive midfielder and a centre-back, he will no doubt be a huge asset for Thomas Tuchel. By all means, Chelsea should look to take advantage of this opportunity and land one of their long-term targets.
