Manager speaks about future of South American superstar amid Chelsea links

Transfer News: Juventus eager to keep Paulo Dybala despite Chelsea links

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia (h/t Metro) after his team’s 2-1 win over Napoli, Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo praised Chelsea transfer target Paulo Dybala and stated that he wants to renew the forward’s contract.

The Argentine international was sidelined from mid-January until now due to an injury. But he made a heroic return off the bench to score what would turn out to be match-winning goal against Gennaro Gattuso’s side.

And Pirlo had nothing but good words to say about the striker, even stating his desire to keep him at the club for longer. His current contract expires in the summer of 2022.

“When you have a player like Dybala at your disposal, you always try to let him play. We’ve almost never had him. When you miss someone like this, it becomes difficult, and when he comes back he helps you win. He still has a year on his contract. We hope to be able to keep him.”

Uncertainty over Dybala

These comments come after heavy speculation of Dybala moving to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur all linked. (h/t Metro)

The links intensified after a recent incident where he was fined by the club for attending an illegal party amid Covid-19 regulations alongside Arthur Melo and Weston McKennie.

Chelsea have been linked with a transfer move for Juventus striker, Paulo Dybala.

The 27-year-old is in the prime age of his career and Chelsea would be wise to exploit his contract situation. Injuries have kept him out for the majority of the current season but he is still a major name in the Juve squad.

The Blues could use a prolific forward, in all honesty. Timo Werner has looked better since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival but his goal-scoring output remains dire. And Olivier Giroud’s future at the club remains uncertain.

More Chelsea News:

In such a situation, Chelsea would be wise to get in someone like Dybala. It remains to be seen if the club actually does make a formal approach or if the striker renews his contract at Juventus.
