According to Metro, Thomas Tuchel is particularly happy with Chelsea being drawn with Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Blues were pit against Porto in the draw after they beat Atletico Madrid in the last round.
With so many good teams still left in the competition, Chelsea can count themselves a bit lucky to have a more favourable draw in the form of Porto. While no team is weak or small at this stage, with all due respect, a draw against Bayern Munich, Manchester City or PSG would have been much tougher.
Tuchel was visibly happy with the draw in the sense that we are not playing English opposition.
‘First of all I’m happy we play an international game not against English team because Champions League is about that as I always prefer to play teams from other countries.
Then we have a second leg at home which feels good, to start with an away game and then maybe the slight advantage to finish at home.’
While he understood that Chelsea were now favourites against Porto, he refused to be carried away and recalled that even Juventus were favourites in the last round only to be knocked out by Porto.
Tuchel remains focused on the job at hand and wants to reach the semi-finals. He says the opposition will get respect but that his side will come up with trumps at the end of the day. The quarter-finals will take place on the 6th and 13th of April, with Chelsea set for the away leg first.
