Thomas Tuchel shares Chris Wilder story ahead of Chelsea vs Sheffield United
Speaking to Yorkshire Live ahead of Chelsea vs Sheffield United, Thomas Tuchel shared a heartfelt story about Chris Wilder. The former Blades manager was recently let go after a disastrous start to the season.
However, Thomas Tuchel was hoping to reconnect with Wilder after the interaction they had when Chelsea defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in the league this season.
Tuchel spoke about how Wilder, who was the manager then, invited him to his office, offered him a drink and then they talked.
“It’s a bit sad because we had a very warm welcome in Sheffield and he (Wilder) invited me to his coaching office and introduced me to his staff and it was very interesting.
We had a talk for 20 minutes and he offered me a glass of wine. It was very, very nice and very unique and friendly. We got involved more about his story and the history of the club, with his strong connections.
Tuchel hoped that Wilder would find a suitable project soon and wished him the best. Nonetheless, he felt that it would be a challenge to beat Sheffield with a new manager (Paul Heckingbottom) at the helm.
