According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea linked Philippe Coutinho could be available at a cut-price this summer. Apparently, with the transfer window approaching, Barcelona are willing to let go of the player and cut their losses.
The Blues have been after the former Liverpool midfielder for a while now but they could not prise him away from the Catalans. However, now it has been said that the player could be let go for a very modest fee as agreed by Barcelona and Ronald Koeman.
Coutinho was a huge talent during his Liverpool days and was one of their best players under Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp. He regularly chipped in with goals and assists.
A neat dribbler of the ball, the Brazilian can crack open the meanest of defences with ease. He has still got all that in his locker, as we saw at Bayern.
His Barcelona blip can largely be put down to a few factors. It seemed like he would be the perfect replacement for Andres Iniesta but it has been anything but.
While Chelsea really don’t look like they need another attacking midfielder with the likes of Mount, Havertz and Ziyech, the reported price point of £35m should at least make them reconsider.
