Thomas Tuchel lifts the lid on this struggling star’s situation at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel speaks out on Timo Werner situation at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel cleared out the air regarding Timo Werner being unhappy at Chelsea and rumours of him returning to Germany (h/t Football.london). The German youngster has endured a tough first season at Chelsea and that has led to speculation over his future.

Werner was a big-money signing from Leipzig last summer and was expected to continue his goal-scoring exploits in England. However, he again failed to score on Saturday against Leeds and has just one goal to show in the last 19 league games.

He will feel a bit hard done by the Liverpool game as his splendid effort was ruled out offside by the finest of margins. Werner got more opportunities to get on the scoresheet during that game as well as against Everton but failed to do so.

However, Tuchel remains relaxed over any exit links of Werner and backed him to return to form.

“For Timo, I think he has no reason now to be frustrated because he had an amazing match against Liverpool, maybe his best match since I arrived.

Then he had a good match against Everton, with a lot of chances to score, which he normally is clinical enough and strong enough. He did not score. Okay, this sticks in a situation like this. This can affect his self-confidence.”

He also adviced Werner to stick to the right technique to achieve the desired results.

While Werner seems to retain the trust of Thomas Tuchel and has performed well in recent games, he still does not have the goals to show for those efforts.

Given the talent Werner has, it would be rather premature to give up on him so easily. However, the situation will need sorting soon before the club pulls the plug on Werner.
