South American star expresses a desire to return and finish career at Chelsea

Oscar wants to return and finish his career at Chelsea

Speaking to TalkSPORT (h/t Football.london), former Chelsea midfielder Oscar said that he wants to return to the club and finish his career there. The Brazilian currently plays in the Chinese Super League for Shanghai Port FC.

Chelsea signed Oscar in 2012 and he soon established himself as one of the best playmakers in Europe and became a regular starter for the Blues. He even managed to displace Juan Mata, who was Chelsea’s main creative force at the time.

In four and a half seasons for the club, Oscar produced fantastic numbers. In 203 games he scored 38 goals and 37 assists. In 2017, he made a rather premature exit from Europe as he joined Shanghai SIPG (as it was known back then).

However, he has spoken about how he would like to return to Chelsea one day and end his career here.

“I think about finishing at Chelsea because I had good times before at Chelsea. Chelsea helped me a lot to improve and to do what I always dreamed [of], which was to play in the Champions League and they helped me to play in the World Cup and to win the Premier League.

“I have a lot of friends at Chelsea. If I have a chance to finish my career at Chelsea, it’s a dream for me. Of course, Chelsea don’t like to buy too many older players, which is normal because it’s a top team from Europe, but I will try my best to be fit to finish there.”

Oscar recalled his experiences of playing in the Premier League and Champions League, praising the fans and support he received during the time he was at the club. While it would be a fairytale return if Chelsea were to bring him back but it really looks unlikely.

Chelsea are looking towards the future with new signings under a new manager. Oscar is right in saying that the Blues don’t really buy too many old players these days. Nonetheless, Oscar can look back on the career he had at Stamford Bridge and be proud.
