“Reflect on solutions”: Tuchel opens up on Chelsea summer transfer plans over key position

Thomas Tuchel speaks about summer transfer plans for Chelsea

According to Mirror, Thomas Tuchel seems to be happy with his forward options at Chelsea and does not intend to add to them in the summer. He feels that the options he has at his disposal will start performing in time.

Despite Chelsea adding a bevy of new forwards this season, hardly any one of them have scored goals at a regular rate. The likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz have struggled massively to reproduce the form they had shown at previous clubs.

Kai Havertz looked good in the No.9 role for Chelsea against Leeds

However, Tuchel insisted that the club will not look to add to their options in attack and the aforementioned players would come good.

“In general I’m happy because we don’t only look at the output, how much they score, how much they assist. Of course this is something, some statistic to which every striker is attached and everybody needs to have the mentality to cope with the pressure that comes along with statistics. It’s like this in high-level football.

“But I have to say at the moment everybody is working hard, nobody is lazy, nobody is taking their time outs when we’re defending. We’re defending high, we’re defending as a block. We’re still looking a little bit for the breakthrough for one or two guys to go on a run and score consistently.”

Tuchel had a go at Timo Werner during Chelsea’s game vs Everton

Tuchel feels that it would be better for Chelsea to help the struggling players at Chelsea instead of going for new players.

“Obviously that’s not the case at the moment and we will not stop pushing and stop looking for solutions to create more clear chances for them. That’s the way it is, but there’s no need now to reflect for the summer or reflect on solutions other than the solutions that we have. We have guys we are happy with and who have the potential to be more decisive, and we will try to help them.”

More Chelsea News:

It bodes well for the likes of Werner, Havertz and Ziyech that Tuchel is ready to trust them. Adding more players to an already congested attack would push them further down the pecking order.

With so much still to play for this season, it remains to be seen how Tuchel uses his resources to produce the maximum effect.
