According to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail), former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole labelled Chelsea’s performance against Liverpool as ‘perfect’. He claims that it was one of the best performances he had seen from his former side.
It truly was as Chelsea came out winners in an important game, courtesy of Mason Mount and his sublime strike in the first half. The win took Thomas Tuchel’s tally to 7 victories in 10 games while Liverpool were dealt a body blow at home with a fifth consecutive defeat at Anfield.
Chelsea were hardly tested through the 90 minutes and they asked more questions of Liverpool. And, the Blues’ legend said that the team will be amped up now.
“I think it was a perfect performance. I thought they showed a lot of bravery and again to go to Anfield… for me one of the best performances I’ve seen Chelsea play in terms of playing out from the back, brave, calm on the ball. And then obviously sticking to the game plan of that ball over the top, it worked a treat tonight… they will take a lot from this game, they’ll be high on confidence.”
Cole also added that this former side has bought into Tuchel’s philosophy as a manager. He has a different style from that of Frank Lampard’s and Tuchel is making it work with pretty much the same team.
It has been a good week for Thomas Tuchel with wins over Atletico Madrid and Liverpool while holding Manchester United to a draw. The Blues are well and truly back under their new manager as a top-four place looks more likely now more than how it was under Frank Lampard.
