According to Metro, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels pleased to have avoided Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals. Chelsea were drawn with Porto while Liverpool have to face Real Madrid in the last-8 stage of the competition set to be played in April.
In other games, Manchester City are to take on Borussia Dortmund while defending champions Bayern Munich face PSG. Nonetheless, despite drawing Real Madrid, Jurgen Klopp felt that they were lucky to avoid Premier League sides like Chelsea and Man City.
‘It’s exciting, exciting. It’s obviously a tough draw. But I am fine with it because if you look at all the other teams you think, “Oh my god” because they are all strong and all have quality, that’s clear. I am really looking forward to the games.”
He did add that Real Madrid got the better of them in 2018 but the situation is much different now. Chelsea have seemingly been given a much favourable draw but the Portuguese side knocked out Juventus in the previous round.
However, given Chelsea’s imperious form, it does make sense that Jurgen Klopp was pleased to avoid a draw with the Blues. Thomas Tuchel recently spoke out on how no side would want to face Chelsea in their current form (h/t ESPN). Well, he wasn’t entirely wrong.
