“It is possible”: Bundesliga star addresses links with Chelsea amid talks of possible Tuchel reunion

Jonas Hofmann hints at possible Chelsea transfer and Tuchel reunion

According to Ruhr Nachrichten (h/t Daily Mail), Jonas Hofmann has spoken about interest shown in him by Chelsea as well as a possible reunion with Thomas Tuchel.

The Chelsea manager had worked with Hofmann during their Borussia Dortmund days after which the midfielder joined Borussia Monchengladbach.

It was reported by BILD (h/t Daily Mail) that Tuchel was keen on bringing the player to Chelsea due to their prior association. There were talks between the player and manager due to Hofmann wanting a new challenge after his long stay at Gladbach.

Hofmann was asked about interest from other clubs but he remained coy on the situation, not giving away anything.

“Basically, I feel good at Borussia, I’ve always emphasised that. It may be that one or the other club has expressed its interest. Nevertheless, for me, the absolute focus is on having a successful season with Borussia and dedicating myself fully to success. I put my personal situation under it.”

Even when he was clearly asked about Chelsea’s interest in him, he refused to give much away. He just said that clubs are bound to take notice if he keeps performing well. However, he did confirm interest in his signature without giving out the name of the club.

“I think it’s clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well. Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.”

While he was linked with a move to Spurs in 2019, he ended up signing a new contract with the German side. Hofmann is likely to cost a modest £14m for any side and not just Chelsea. The German has been in fine form for his side but could be heading towards a potential exit.

More Chelsea News:

Chelsea may not look like they need new midfielders at this stage but Hofmann looks like a huge bargain with his quality and £14m price tag. Tuchel would have no qualms about settling him into the side having worked with him previously.
