Roman Abramovich reveals future plans for Chelsea
Speaking to Forbes (h/t Football.london), Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich talked about what future plans he has in store for the club. In one of those rare interviews, the Russian billionaire spoke about several Chelsea related topics including the future of the club.
It has been close to 18 years since he took ownership of the club and that has led to unprecedented success at all levels. The club won the Champions League for the first time in 2012 while becoming a dominant force in England. Even our youth and women teams have experienced tremendous success.
However, that has not slowed down their ambitions one bit as Abramovich outlined in the interview that the objective that was there in 2003 still stands true today.
“I think the trophies speak for themselves and show what we as a club have been able to achieve over these years. And it’s my goal for us to keep winning trophies going forward and build for the future.
“Chelsea has a very rich history, and I feel extremely fortunate to a play a part in that. The club was here before me, and will be here after me, but my job is to ensure we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future. That’s why the success of our academy at Cobham is so important to me.”
