Arsenal legend points out what’s going wrong for this misfiring Chelsea star

Ian Wright speaks out on Timo Werner’s struggles

According to Express, former Arsenal forward Ian Wright spoke about how Timo Werner is still struggling at Chelsea. Wright insisted that Chelsea and Werner are wasting too many chances to score.

Werner was a big-money signing from Leipzig in the summer and was expected to continue his goal-scoring exploits in England. However, he again failed to score on Monday night against Everton and has just one goal to show in the last 20 games.

He will feel a bit hard done by the Liverpool game as his splendid effort was ruled out offside by the finest of margins. Werner got more opportunities to get on the scoresheet during that game as well as against Everton but failed to do so. Arsenal icon Ian Wright spoke about the whole issue.

‘Unfortunately for him Timo Werner missed another couple of chances. When you look at how well Chelsea played against Liverpool I thought they were very good the way they played.

They made so many changes today and played well again today. Converting those chances only gives confidence to the team and probably him as well.’

‘He just seems to be snatching chances that if he could take them it would then give Chelsea the confidence that they are playing well from back to front and then they are finishing off they could really start to cause people problems.’

The match is being played behind closed doors because of the current COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, and government social distancing/lockdown restrictions.

Werner has just scored 5 times in the league in 23 games. While he has looked much better in recent games under Thomas Tuchel, he has failed to convert those good chances into goals. The young striker will be hoping to break his bleak run as Chelsea have some more crucial games coming up.
