Hansi Flick confirms Bayern wanted to sign three Chelsea players last year

According to Express, Bayern Munich manager, Hansi Flick wanted to sign three Chelsea players last year. The three players are Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Flick led Bayern to a historic treble last season but wanted to add to the side at the start of this season. There was the obvious case of replacing the duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and that’s why they were admittedly targeting wide players.

“It is always said that Hudson-Odoi and [Serginho] Dest were my desired players, but they were our desired players. We decided that we wanted to add players for the wide areas and that is what we did. Havertz, Werner and Sane were mentioned, I would have loved to have all three, but we all decided on Sane. He’s a player who makes a difference.”

Bayern’s interest in Hudson-Odoi has been longstanding. They bid for him extensively in 2019, only to be rebuffed every time by Chelsea. They came but with a loan deal last summer but Chelsea transfer supremo Marina Granovskaia rejected the offer.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes he holds the key that can unlock his side's attack.
Kai Havertz (L) and Timo Werner (R) have shown improvements under Tuchel

It does come as a surprise to see Bayern linked with the German duo of Havertz and Werner. However, they were outpriced form signing Havertz after Leverkusen’s valuation. On the other hand, Werner was intent on moving to the Premier League.
