Chelsea News: Willy Caballero takes a dig at Frank Lampard
According to news from Mirror, Willy Caballero has taken a dig at former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard. The reserve keeper compared the playing styles of current manager Thomas Tuchel and Lampard.
Lampard was let go in January after a dismal run of results and failure to turn around the same. Thomas Tuchel was brought in soon after and the German has revived the club and their hopes of Champions League football for next season.
Chelsea have shown a marked improvement since Tuchel took over in January. They are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and quarter-finals of the Champions League, while also climbing up to fourth place in the league.
During that time, Chelsea have displayed remarkable robustness as we have been one of the harder teams to crack open.
Caballero explained what is the main difference between both managers.
“Undoubtedly, with Frank, we had a more direct idea of the game, basically English football. To attack fast, attack on the wings, move centrally or attack on one side and finish on the other but with quite a bit of verticality. The football he liked was very dizzying, with quick movements of the ball. He also liked attacking and counter-attacking.
“Now with Tuchel, it’s more about combining, playing with the ball. We create more. He almost tells us how the match will develop, where the opponent’s key aspects are, their strengths and their weaknesses.”
