Chelsea News: Jorginho injury confirmed by Roberto Mancini
According to news from Football.london, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is likely to miss Italy’s WC qualifiers with an injury. Italy manager Roberto Mancini confirmed that the Chelsea man was not called up to the squad due to a knee injury.
Jorginho has been missing in action for a while now and it seems to be an injury that is keeping him on the sidelines. It is likely that the knock he suffered against Leeds last week kept him out of the Sheffield United game this week. In the midweek, he was suspended for the Atletico game.
Italy are all set to take on Northern Ireland, Bulgaria and Lithuania in their WC qualifiers. Jorginho’s injury was unclear until it was realised that Emerson Palmieri was called up to the side but the former was not.
Italy boss Mancini cleared the situation and confirmed that the midfielder is out with an injury, leaving them a little light in the middle.
“As regards to the midfielders, we are really in a bit of difficulty in the centre. We’re missing Jorginho, who wasn’t well. He’d taken a knock to the knee and he wasn’t fit to play in these games so we didn’t risk him.”
