According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have identified Kingsley Coman as a transfer target. Questions have been asked about Christian Pulisic’s future and the Blues see Coman as a direct replacement for the American.
Chelsea’s interest in the 24-year-old is not new. They wanted him in 2019 when Bayern were after Callum Hudson-Odoi. Nonetheless, no transfer materialised during that time. Even after that, Chelsea kept tabs on the Frenchman and they still do now.
Coming to the Pulisic situation, while Tuchel did admit that he has been unfair in not giving more chances for Pulisic to impress, the whole situation did little to help as several clubs are now after him. The Everton game was another in a series of snubs for Pulisic as he has now failed to start even one game under Tuchel.
He has played an alarmingly low 50 minutes in the last 3 games under the new manager. Yes, he did struggle with injuries this season but now finds himself on the fringes despite being fit. Tuchel seemingly cannot find a place for him in his new setup as the winger continues to struggle for minutes.
Coman, however, is perhaps the best candidate to replace Pulisic. He has expressed a desire to play in England also. Another reason for going after Coman is the sheer amount of experience and winning mentality that he brings with him, having won a host of trophies at Bayern, including the Champions League last seaso.
It might be hard to prise him away but in case Pulisic does leave, no doubt Chelsea would go after Coman.
