A report by The Sun (h/t Metro) mentions that PSG, Inter Milan, and Barcelona are after Chelsea transfer target and Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero.
The interest from the Catalan club is not new, but the Ligue 1 champions and I Nerazzurri are new suitors in the race to sign the Argentine. Aguero is out of contract at City this summer.
There is not a lack of suitors for him despite him turning 33 years old this year. Aguero has scored 257 goals for City in 384 matches and is their greatest striker of all time.
But this season, he hasn’t featured as much as he would have liked to. The former Atletico Madrid man has started just 4 league games this term and scored once in that time.
That, however, has largely been down to injury and fitness issues. Regardless of that, he was an unused substitute in City’s most recent FA Cup win against Everton.
And Pep Guardiola has himself addressed this situation, saying that the club cannot give him minutes right now as it is an important part of the season, but will try and convince him to stay at the end of this campaign
“We have to be calm, the club will speak to his agent to know the situation and we are going to talk at the end of the season.”
If the contract renewal does not happen, then Aguero would be a free agent. But this means that the Argentine striker would command a massive weekly wage, especially considering the amount of interest in his services.
If Chelsea can afford him, then he could be a game-changing signing. His goal-scoring pedigree is not up for debate and he will add genuine quality to the frontline.
