According to ESPN (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea believe they can entice Erling Haaland to the club with a huge pay packet. It had been reported earlier that the Blues are not among the six sides he considers joining at the end of the season.
However, it has now been said that Chelsea are confident that they have the financial muscle to offer Haaland eye-watering pay. To top that off, there is the factor of their squad filled with young superstars that they think can persuade the Borussia Dortmund starlet in choosing Chelsea.
While Chelsea did bring in Timo Werner for big money this season, his faltering form has raised questions about whether he can make his mark at the club. Even Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Werner may not exactly fit the style of play at Chelsea.
Haaland is said to admire Real Madrid while there are family ties with Man City due to his father playing for them. There’s also interest from Manchester United and Liverpool. PSG, Barcelona and Juventus are the other European sides to take an interest in the sensational forward.
However, Chelsea are one of the few clubs that can realistically afford Haaland in this pandemic-affected economy. Roman Abramovich is ready to spend money on him as wages and as transfer fees. It really starts to get interesting from here as Chelsea have now put themselves back in the race for the Norwegian.
