Chelsea star reacts to his goal vs Atletico, praises his teammate for the service

Chelsea ace Hakim Ziyech talks about his goal and praises Timo Werner

Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Metro), Hakim Ziyech talked about his goal and praised Chelsea teammate Timo Werner. The Moroccan was happy to have ended his barren run in front of goal after his strike put Chelsea two up on aggregate.

Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri in each half were enough to seal the deal as Atletico barely got close to the home side and rarely looked to trouble the scores. The visitors’ frustrations were visible as they hooked off Luis Suarez with more than half an hour to go.

The first goal was entirely the making of the three new summer recruits as Kai Havertz’s pass was picked up by Timo Werner who ran ahead and laid it on for Ziyech to finish it off. The former Ajax man duly obliged as he put the home side up by one goal.

He was visibly happy with the goal and also did not forget to give credit to Werner, who set it all up for him.

‘It was an important one and I had to wait a long time for it. I think we took the ball good from midfield, we used Timo in the space and he had a good delivery and it was a good finish. It’s always a good feeling when you go 1-0 in front and especially when you make it for yourself. The delivery from Timo was good as well and the pass from Kai as well.’

Thomas Tuchel will be a relieved man after seeing all three of the new signings dovetail in attack and score goals.

This was one of those rare occasions that they worked so well in tandem to help Chelsea in a crucial game. One can only hope that this performance can help kickstart a good partnership.
