Andreas Christensen frustrated with draw against Manchester United as Chelsea miss chance to go 4th
Speaking to Chelsea TV after the game against Manchester United, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen rued the 0-0 result as the club missed the chance to go 4th in the table.
The Blues hosted the Red Devils at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in an exciting Premier League encounter. But the match failed to live up to its billing.
A much-changed Chelsea side were held to a goalless draw against 2nd-placed United. The Blues left both Timo Werner out of the starting XI, while Tammy Abraham was not in the matchday squad.
One positive from the game was Chelsea’s defence, which starred Andreas Christensen in a glowing display. The Danish defender played the full 90 minutes in the league for just the third time under Thomas Tuchel.
A frustrating outing
And speaking after the match, the 24-year-old said that it was a frustrating feeling as the club missed the chance to take a big step in their aim to qualify for the top 4 at the end of the season.
“We are walking away a little bit frustrated because we wanted to win… Today would have been a huge step towards the top four. Didn’t quite get it, but we are going into the next one [Liverpool]. We are looking forward to it. We will keep on going”
The Blues now have a daunting trip to Anfield on Thursday night to take on defending Champions Liverpool. The Reds were on a 4-game losing streak in the league before they beat Sheffield United 2-0 on Sunday.

The win meant that Jurgen Klopp’s men are within just 1 point of Chelsea in 6th position. A win on Thursday for them would mean that they leapfrog Thomas Tuchel’s side into 5th and possibly make top 4 if West Ham slip up.
