N’Golo Kante is looking to extend his Chelsea contract after positive talks with the club.

N’Golo Kante gets high praise from Thomas Tuchel

As Chelsea wrapped up the tie against Atletico Madrid, it was a certain N’Golo Kante that drew praise from Thomas Tuchel (h/t Metro). The Blues made light work of the Spanish side as two goals ensured a 3-0 aggregate win.

Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri struck in each half to add to Olivier Giroud’s goal in the last leg. It was a convincing performance more than anything as Chelsea kept Atletico at an arm’s length for most of the tie.

However, it was N’Golo Kante who produced a display for the ages with a strong performance in midfield. Manager Thomas Tuchel was quick to point that out in the post-match press conference and showered him with praises.

‘I never know the age of my players just from performance. If you play with N’Golo you have half a man more because he has a volume that is simply outstanding. It is a big gift for me, a guy so, so humble and a big helper on the pitch. Don’t underestimate his quality.’

Kante produced one of his best performances in a blue shirt as he rolled back the years to show he has still got it. With Kante turning in such displays, Chelsea look an even more solid side than before. Tuchel will be hoping he can keep that up in the long run.
