Chelsea youngster Xavier Mbuyamba suffers injury setback
Xavier Mbuyamba, the highly-rated Chelsea defender, confirmed on Twitter that he has suffered another injury setback. The youngster said that he would be out for a bit longer due to another operation and wanted to come back to action soon.
The Dutch defender was a summer signing for the academy but he is yet to feature for any of the youth sides. That was due to him suffering a knee injury right after signing for the club back in September.
He recovered his way to training in January but another operation in last month meant that he would be out for a longer period of time than originally stipulated. It looks likely that he might just be able to return at the end of the season but there would hardly be any time for him to make an impact.
It surely has to be frustrating for the youngster as well as the club, given how talented Mbuyamba is. He was previously with Barcelona’s U-19 side before the Blues chose to sign him at the start of this season.

At just 19 years of age, Mbuyamba will still have a lot of time to return to his original growth curve. Chelsea have a talent on their hands and it will be interesting to see how he develops over the next few seasons and whether he can crack his way into the first-team.
