Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel provides injury updates ahead of the Atletico Madrid game

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel went on to provide some news in terms of injuries and returns ahead of their game against Atletico Madrid. The German manager ruled out Thiago Silva for the game as his recovery is on its way.

The veteran Brazilian has been out of action for a while now after incurring a thigh injury in the win over Tottenham. While he has started training, he wasn’t played in the Southampton game given a risk of aggravating the injury.

However, he has been deemed not yet fit for action as he misses the trip for the Atletico Madrid game and won’t join his team. There is some good news though as the duo of Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic are likely to be back in contention for the Champions League fixture.

The pair missed Chelsea’s draw against Southampton but are likely to feature in the squad for the next game. Ahead of the game, Tuchel spoke out.

“We are well equipped in our squad. I love what I feel, love what I see. The hunger to compete, a strong bond, a strong club. I’m very happy to arrive in Bucharest the feeling is we are ready and trust the boys on the pitch.”

More Chelsea News:

The game is being held in Bucharest which will act as Atletico’s ‘home ground’. This is due to the ban on travel from the UK to Spain owing to Coronavirus.
